NEW SKOOL JOURNALISM– Sophia “Black Artemis” Quintero
    Thursdays, September 27th – December 13th 4:30pm-6:30pm

Taught by award-winning novelist Sofia Quintero aka Black Artemis, New Skool Journalists take the term, “Word on the Street” to the next level. New Skool Journalism is a cross between Ghost’s lyrics on “Supreme Clientele” and an in-depth investigative report from Nelson George. Students will become citizen journalists, ethnographic researchers and flip-cam interviewers, to enhance their work and make it relevant. New Skool identifies the issues, and realities happening in and around select communities, then develop New Skool “stories” fusing poetry and the Ten O’clock news.
