First of its kind, the Black Girl Magic Ball happened because of my tribe: the women that taught me how to hold other women up, how to hold us accountable. I am so grateful for those that came with good hearts, with absent egos, with the smiles and love.  The many faces of our diaspora, the many cycles of our generations, the many fists, and voices of our people — built space and community.  So thankful for the brigade of young black and brown women attending last week’s First Annual #BGMBall18! So thankful we could lift up this year’s awardees as Purveyors of Black Girl Magic: Cheryl Boyce-TaylorDr. Bobbi Peterson-DimarandaAmara La NegraDiamond Craig, and Patricia Smith. We all we got. And we’re celebrating black girls from all spaces — see you next year!
